A Prudent Woman

As I searched the scriptures, I found that there are two adjectives that describes a woman that is worth finding. The first one is a prudent woman.

For YEARS as I read Proverbs, I would see this word prudent however I would read right over it thinking I truly understood what this word meant. I automatically saw it to be another word for "wisdom", but as I looked closer to the actual meaning of this word, I found that there is so much more to it. Being prudent is not just about having wisdom spiritually, but based on its Hebrew meaning, it's having "practical wisdom". This means, natural and time tested wisdom...in other words actually living out what one believes.

I KNOW I can use some work in this area because when I think about the decisions that I've made in my life, man oh man...I know prudence is needed. As a prudent woman, we know how to handle the affairs of our lives. We can manage our money, we are discreet, we are cautious and we have plain ole common sense.

I like this scripture because it shows us something..."Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the LORD." (Proverbs 19:14) What this says to me is...All the natural stuff like homes and wealth is something a father can give so why focus on it? But when a man marries a woman who is discreet, knows how to handle her affairs, can manage her money and is cautious...He will know she's from the Lord.

We have to understand...it's okay and fine to have spiritual wisdom, because it is needed, but we can't be just that...we have to know how to take care of things in the natural as well. Remember, when God presents us to His BEST man and he awakens, he will look at you and KNOW that you are made for him...a prudent woman.

Dear Lord please aid me in my quest for more prudence in the dealings of my daily life.
